PROMPT GUIDE
Recommended Negative Prompts and a Copy-Paste Template
If you're not sure where to start, paste the base set below straight into the negative prompt field. Then add tags to match whatever goes wrong (fingers, text, number of people). The negative prompt is where you tell the AI what you don't want drawn, and just tidying it up dramatically reduces the usual mishaps.

Recommended negative prompt (copy-paste base set)
If in doubt, start by pasting this set into the negative prompt field. It's safe to use with most anime models.
worst quality, low quality, bad anatomy, bad hands, extra fingers, missing fingers, extra digits, fewer digits, jpeg artifacts, signature, watermark, username, blurryFor Illustrious / NoobAI models
Put what you most want to avoid first (low quality -> parts that tend to break -> elements you don't want). The thinking behind the order is the same as in the Illustrious / NoobAI prompt order article.

What if the fingers come out broken?
The first step is adding bad hands, extra fingers, missing fingers to the negative prompt. If they still break, a composition that doesn't show the hands is sometimes more reliable than adding more negatives.
Fixes other than the negative prompt (composition and pose) are covered in detail here. How to Fix Bad Hands in AI Art: The Complete Guide →
What if text or signatures appear?
Add text, signature, watermark, username. For images where you want text, such as signs or speech, remove text.
What if extra people appear?
For a solo image, a two-sided approach works well: solo in the positive prompt, and multiple girls or 2girls in the negative prompt.
Can too many negatives backfire? (Don't overdo it)
- Writing too much in the negative also narrows what the positive prompt can express
- For example, putting muscular in the negative can make even a healthy build come out too thin
- The basic rule is "when a mistake happens, add that mistake's name." Don't throw everything in from the start
Rinka's tips
- Some models have an officially recommended negative prompt. Always check the download page
- When hands break, a composition that doesn't show the hands is sometimes more reliable than adding negatives
- When extra people appear in a solo image, use the two-sided approach: solo in the positive, multiple girls in the negative
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a longer negative prompt better?
No. An overly long negative prompt cuts down the range of expression and can even lower image quality. It's best to stick to the base set plus fixes for problems that actually occurred.
Should I use embeddings (EasyNegative, etc.)?
They're handy if they suit the model, but newer SDXL / Illustrious-based models often don't need them. First check whether the text base set is enough before considering them.
What happens if I put a quality tag (masterpiece) in the negative?
It tells the model to avoid high-quality traits, so image quality goes down. Be careful not to use the same tag in both the positive and negative prompts.
